Demographics
One of the features of the Dictionary is the inclusion of detailed demographic data, based on Census figures, for every suburb in the greater Sydney area.
The Melbourne group Informed Decisions (id) was commissioned to provide customised data from censuses in 1996, 2001 and 2006. The data is organised on the basis of the almost 700 suburbs identified by the Dictionary project in consultation with 40 local councils.
It provides fascinating snapshots of every local area and will build into an invaluable series for the local historians of the future.
We will be including data from the 2011 Census when it becomes available.
